New Zealand fallow buck hunting
Fallow are a striking deer and an exceptional trophy

Characterized by broad, palmated antlers (more in keeping with moose than the other deer species), fallow are a striking deer and have flourished in New Zealand since they were introduced from Europe in 1864.

The Poronui fallow herd originated from Danish stock, producing exceptional trophy heads.

The mixed woodland and grassland found on Poronui is their preferred habitat, and the herd has gone from strength to strength.

Fallow seasonal availability

Fallow rut from mid-April until the end of April, and they’re particularly aggressive during this time. They have a distinctive croak noise instead of a roar and can be one of the most challenging species to hunt.
