A highlight of the Poronui hunting calendar for 2014 was the privilege to host Steve LeBlanc Of PBR Outdoors, who brought with him noted PBR cowboys, Justin McBride and Luke Snyder.

We had a great week with these guys and they enjoyed hunting red stag , sika stag and fallow buck, along with a fierce competition at our Olympic class sporting clays range.

Justin was first to get lucky bagging a very good 400+ SCI red stag. This really got him excited and he eventually took a very nice sika.

Luke was more than a bit envious of Justin’s success and decided to set his sights on a very big stag.

He was over awed at the first sighting of one the best stags Andrew could find at Poronui and the old buck fever set in. What a great day, Luke eventually bagged one of the most fantastic red stags taken in New Zealand. He has joined the coveted 600 club!

This red stag is absolute class in what ever way you want to discuss him; he has 60 scoring points, measures just over 600 SCI. Luke thinks so much of him that he is going on display, life size at the new Bass Pro museum. It doesn’t come any better!

Luke also took a great sika and had this to say summing up his time with us:

‘I shared the hunt of a lifetime with great friends in one of the most beautiful locations the world has to offer. Thanks Poronui, I’ll never forget my time spent with you’.

We thank Steve , Luke and Justin for hunting with us at Poronui, It was great getting to know them. Andrew Scurr enjoyed guiding them to success in securing very good Poronui trophies.
