Government Update – 16 March 2022:

Today the Government announced that:

• From 11:59pm, 12 April fully vaccinated Australian citizens and permanent residents can enter New Zealand.
• From 11:59pm, 1 May 2022 visitors from countries who do not need a visa (visa waiver visitors) and visitors from other countries who already hold a valid visitor visa can enter New Zealand.
• Further advice will be received shortly on options for visitors from non-visa waiver countries, which are currently due to come in from October.

Tourists will not need to isolate on arrival.  They will be required to have had a pre-departure test, with two further rapid antigen tests on day 0/1 and 5/6.

Government Update – 28 February 2022:
Relates to New Zealand citizens and residents (and other eligible travellers under current border settings)

• New Zealand’s self-isolation requirement will be dropped for travellers arriving in to the country under Step 1 and 2 from 11.59pm on Wednesday 2nd March.
• Step 2 will be brought forward, meaning the border will reopen to all returning ‘Kiwis’ (from any country) with no need for self-isolation.

Government Update – February 2022

New Zealand’s border reopens from late February in 5 stages. For many of Poronui’s international guests, Stage 4 is the most applicable.

Important note: There is a requirement for self-isolation on arrival (of 7-10 days). More details on this are yet to be made available and we are actively requesting the Government revises this requirement.

• Stage 1 – 27 Feb 2022: Fully vaccinated New Zealand citizens and residents and other eligible travellers* in Australia can enter NZ and self-isolate on arrival.
• Stage 2 – 13 Mar 2022: Fully vaccinated New Zealanders and other eligible travellers* from anywhere in the world can enter NZ and self-isolate on arrival.
• Stage 3 – 12 Apr 2022: Temporary visa holders currently outside New Zealand and who have a valid visa can enter NZ as long as they still meet their visa requirements. Up to 5000 international students can enter for semester 2. Workforce class exemptions and approved program lists will be updated.
• Stage 4 – July 2022: Australian citizens, Australian permanent residents and other foreign nationals travelling from Australia; visitors from visa-waiver countries**; accredited employer work visa (AEWV) holders.
• Stage 5 – October 2022: The border opens for all other NZ visa holders, including visitor and student visas, unless the visa is closed or paused.

*Other eligible travellers refer to those with border entry exemptions – e.g. diplomats and aircrew, critical workers etc.  Refer to NZ Immigration for current exemptions.

**Visa Waiver countries include (but aren’t limited to): USA, UK, Ireland, Canada, France, Germany, Singapore

In line with Government regulations, there is no requirement for vaccine passes at Poronui.

Scanning

From 5 April 2022, there is no longer a requirement to scan in at Poronui using the New Zealand Government’s COVID Tracer App. These requirements are subject to change, based on Government policy.

The NZ COVID Tracer app can be downloaded free of charge from Google Play Store or the Apple Store.

Masks

Masks are encouraged to be worn indoors, when not eating or drinking.

It’s a requirement to wear masks within Helisika machines and when being transported by Poronui staff and guides in vehicles.

Poronui is COVID Clean certified, by the New Zealand Government and Tourism New Zealand’s Qualmark programme.

Our safety protocols related to food service, safety and cleaning have been designed in line with New Zealand Government regulation. All cleanliness and hygiene procedures are overseen by a dedicated team of health and safety practitioners. Kitchens, back offices, guest rooms and public spaces are all subject to stringent disinfecting protocols, which includes all high-touch surfaces.
