Free Range Hunting at Poronui
There is a dimension to the hunting experience at Poronui that sets it apart. Extremely private and a spectacularly beautiful 6,500 hectares of New Zealand back country wilderness, Poronui is the spiritual home of sika deer and remains a population stronghold. Stay in our rustic-luxe safari camp, savour a wine or beer around the blazing camp-fire and fall asleep to the mesmerising sound of the famous Mohaka River, in this completely tranquil wilderness.
Sika Hunting - 2 Day Experience
From 1 March to 15 May each year you can experience the magic of hunting the wily sika or majestic red stag at Poronui. Includes two days shared accommodation for two people at Poronui safari tent camp, all meals, beer, house wine, and two days of guided hunting. Trophy animals are extra.
Sika Hunting - 4 Day Experience
Includes four days shared accommodation for two people at Poronui safari tent camp, all meals, beer, house wine, and four days of guided hunting. Trophy animals are extra. Only available 1 March to 15 May.
Father & Son - Back Country Experience
Treat your son or daughter to an authentic New Zealand back country experience. Two days of action packed activity, with your own personal guide - eat under the stars and toast marsh-mallows on the camp fire embers, and sleep under canvas at our safari camp! Choose from the array of activities offered at Poronui – small game hunting, deer hunting, fishing, hiking, eco tours, eeling, sporting clays, archery, target shooting, rifle shooting, horse riding. Your personal Poronui guide will provide instruction when required and some tall tales of adventure and challenge!
This package includes two days shared accommodation for one adult and one child at our safari tent camp, all meals, soft drinks, beer, house wine, and two days of guided activities. Free Range Hunting at Glazebrook
Glazebrook is a private 9,000 hectare estate in the South Island of New Zealand. This premier sporting property offers an isolated and unspoiled experience in an authentic high country station, with a brand-new lodge and both game ranch and free range hunting. The rugged natural beauty of Glazebrook combined with the array of animals to hunt makes it ideal for hunters who really do love to hunt!
South Island High Country
The property supports an abundance of free range red stag and fallow deer that roam the hills and valleys, and chamois that make their home on the snow-capped mountain peaks. There are also wild boar, goats, hares and game birds on the property and brown trout in the gin clear Waihopai River. The free range animals are representative of their breed, and some excellent trophies can be taken.
Hunt roaring red stags in high mountain basins. You will need to be fit to spot and stalk a red stag on the steep scree slopes of high country New Zealand, but it’s an experience you will never forget – and we promise you a luxurious bed and gourmet meals to sustain you!
If you’re looking for something bigger in the trophy stakes you might want to consider the Glazebrook game estate. Glazebrook’s game estate grounds are a true test for a hunter. Containing over 3,000 acres of magnificent South Island high country, this is true mountain hunting.
Other Activities
As well as hunting, brown trout fly-fishing and nature-based activities are available right from the door of this spectacular lodge. And the famous vineyards of New Zealand's Marlborough District are downriver from Glazebrook Station, on the way to Blenheim airport 90 minutes away.
