Driving Directions to Poronui

If you choose to drive yourself, take State Highway 5 from Taupo towards Napier for 25km. Turn right into Taharua Road (signage for Taharua Road is on the left hand side of the road). Travel down Taharua Road for 21km. The last part of Taharua Road has a gravel surface – drive with care. At our boundary there is a river-stone wall on either side of the road with ‘PORONUI’ written on the left hand wall. Continue past these walls. At the end of Taharua Road is our electronic gate right across the road. On the wall on the left of the gate is the sign ‘PORONUI’.

Immediately before the gate on the right is a stone pillar with a key pad. Press “LODGE” for the Lodge and identify yourself to the lodge staff, who can open the gate automatically. Proceed to a curved river-stone wall on the right-hand side of the road with the sign ‘Poronui’. Take the entrance to the right immediately before the sign. This will bring you through the pine trees to the Lodge.

If you are driving from Napier, take State Highway 5 towards Taupo. Approximately 6km past the Rangitaiki Lodge (pub/tea rooms on north side of State Highway 5) turn left into Taharua Road (signage for Taharua Road is on the right). Refer above paragraph for directions from this point.
