Our Evolution
Poronui Hunting is an operating division of Westervelt in New Zealand. It has evolved from Westervelt's ownership of Poronui in the North Island and Glazebrook in the South Island. Both properties offer high quality hunting, fishing and wilderness experiences and Poronui Hunting specialises in delivering the best of NZ hunting, whether it be trophy hunting in our games estates or free range hunting on our extensive private properties.
The development of Poronui Hunting is no accident, but the result of careful and nurturing stewardship by the staff. We have a strong philosophy of conservation, of preserving the natural assets of the properties. We have a strong customer service ethic, believing that while Poronui and Glazebrook themselves are spectacular, it is our people and the camaraderie of fellow guests that will make your experience truly memorable.

Poronui
Westervelt owns Poronui, once a rustic fishing camp but developed over time into one of the world’s finest fishing, hunting and wilderness lodges. Poronui has been rated in the top ten fly fishing destinations in the world by Forbes Magazine, and is a world class hunting destination as well, with roaring red stag, the wily sika, sambar, rusa, fallow buck and more.
Glazebrook Station
Westervelt also owns Glazebrook in the South Island, a rugged high country station with a 3,000 game estate and new, high quality hunting lodge. The Lodge operates a mini hydro scheme to generate its own renewable electricity.

Sika Stag Study
Poronui is participating in a study of the secret habits of sika stags. Twelve stags, ranging in age from yearling spikers to mature animals, have been fitted with radio tracking devices. Regular readings enable us to learn more about these wily and secretive deer - information that will benefit all hunters and wildlife enthusiasts.
